A cast iron Dutch oven with a lid that doubles as a two-handle pan, for covered recipes and separate stovetop cooking.
The deeper pot gives a soup or roast room to cook under a cover, while the lid can be used on its own as a shallow pan. This is useful if you want a small cast iron collection with more than one cooking shape. Plan around the shared lid: once it is cooking separately, it cannot cover the pot.
