A seasoned cast iron Dutch oven whose lid doubles as a grill pan, giving you two cooking surfaces for preparing a meal.
Cook a stew in the deeper pot, or put the lid to work separately when you want a ridged surface for vegetables or meat. Having two pieces gives you options for organizing a meal, but using the lid as a pan means the pot is uncovered at that moment. Plan the cooking sequence around which piece you need first.
The assembled cookware weighs 14.95 pounds before food, a useful consideration if you regularly move a filled pot between stove and oven. Clear a landing space before lifting and use protection for hot handles. After the meal, wash both pieces by hand, dry them and apply oil as part of the regular care of seasoned cast iron.
The cover also serves as a ridged pan.
The iron is suited to several heat sources.
